Mission Statement
To be an encouraging uplifting force in the lives of others: teaching and inspiring them, helping them feel good about their accomplishments and promoting a positive relationship with water. To share our love of the sea, promote awareness and responsible actions that make a difference in ocean conservation.
Educate
“We will protect only what we love and will love only what we understand.”
Part of mermaid training is learning to respect and protect the ocean. From interesting Maui sea life and ocean facts to the importance of conservation efforts and what you can do to help, our aim is to give you a deeper understanding and love for the ocean and it’s inhabitants. Mermaids are of the sea, after all.
Inspire
We believe in the power of having someone believe in you. The more positive role models in life who know you’ve got this, the better. This is especially important for children. As they take on the new activity of mermaiding, we are patiently beside them every step of the way: uplifting, encouraging and keeping them safe.
Connect
Our aim is to make a genuine connection. Your time with us should be something you remember with a smile for years to come. Furthermore, in order to swim like a mermaid, you need to be present, focused, connected to your body, understanding the impact of your movements. In the pool and beyond, that state of connecting and choosing your impact is a powerful way to make a difference.
Your Safety is Our Top Priority
What sets us apart? We seek to go above and beyond when it comes to quality and connection. All kids’ classes are taught in the safety and comfort of a shallow pool. Our classes have an intimate group size with no more than four students per instructor for maximum attention, assistance and enjoyment. Our tails have been carefully selected from a manufacturer with a 100% safety rating. They are beautiful, perform well and are also easy to exit. Our classes include a thorough safety briefing and expert instruction. Students learn skills one at a time within arm’s reach of the instructor.
We meet students where they are at and don’t push for more. Meaning, we cater the class elements to your child’s comfort and ability level. Non swimmers get their own class, as do littles under the age of seven. All students in our group classes (ages 8+) must already know how to swim before entering a mermaid tail, and the class is held in a shallow pool environment where participants can touch and easily stand to breathe. Flotation is available at all times.
Our mermaid instructor Sara is also a CPR and Emergency First Response Instructor with years of experience teaching thousands of children water activities in both the pool and the ocean. Sara loves working with littles, often jokes that “kids are her superpower” and is attentive, patient and positive. We think you’ll love her! Passionate about protecting the ocean, Sara is an ambassador for a non-profit ocean conservation group called the Shark Guardian. She is also a PADI Instructor, created the curriculum for the classes in Maui years before mermaid certification went worldwide, helped develop the PADI Mermaid Program, and teaches Mermaid Certification Courses for Adults in the ocean! See our classes for more information.
